Tyson & Cheri Johnson, Founders & Owners

Age: 38. Lives in St Louis, Missouri.

Hi, I’m Tyson Johnson, and I’m the founder and owner of this site. My wife, Cheri, is also involved by adding quick, healthy meal ideas and recipes to the group.

Cheri has a bachelor's in fitness and wellness and a master's in secondary ed. She's a former personal trainer and also taught high school PE for a couple years before becoming a homemaker. She's been within 5 lbs of her pre-pregnancy weight for years, even after having three boys.

I’ve always been into health and fitness and sports. I did baseball and soccer as a kid. At the age of 13, I started reading Bill Phillips “Muscle Media” magazine – I’d first hand those magazines to my mom so she could add a sharpie marker to the women photos at the back to make their bathing suits a little more modest. Oh, the special innocence of youth.

Fast forward to 2004. I had just finished a full time two year voluntary community service that was amazing and life-changing. But I had steadily put on weight and was ready to lose that so I could be lean and fit for the ladies as I started my freshmen year of college.

I decided to compete in Body For Life… a 12 week exercise and nutrition transformation contest. I loved it, and ended up losing 25 lbs of fat and gaining muscle. These are my actual before and after photos:

However, there was a problem. I found my time in the gym was extremely intense. And the diet was super strict. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sustain that forever. Especially after I graduated college and started a family.

So my quest became how to slowly become less extreme, while still maintaining my lean, fit, healthy physique, year round. (I say year round because one thing I hated was feeling heavy. I would also see guys in the gym who were incredibly strong but had little definition. You definitely couldn’t see their ab definition. I was determined to be different.)

I spent the following years slowly weeding out what I didn’t need, simplifying my approach to make it more sustainable, and removing any extreme aspects of the program. I was basically my own test dummy.

Fast forward to today. I’ve been happily married since 2005 and have three amazing boys. I’ve had a full-time career since 2008. And I’ve been able to sustain my transformation all along the way. To this day, I still hover right around 8-10% body fat year round.

Even with another community volunteer role as an ecclesiastical leader and counselor that involved 20 hours a week of service (on top of my 40+ hour career.) By the way, I really grew a ton in this role. I grew in my love for people as I’d do visits to their homes. I learned that I loved inspiring people to change for the better and found it fulfilling helping people have better marriages, and also in mentoring the rising generation.

Even after being partially disabled for two months several years ago from several herniated disks…

Bottom line: We make time for things that matter to us.

I feel being fit and healthy has enhanced every aspect of my life. In 2018, I started this side coaching business because I realized there were lots of other busy working professional dads out there who needed my help.

My approach is unique and different. It’s simple. It’s sustainable. It’s based on science. It works. And dads get one one one support and accountability with me so they win.

It’s been one of my pride and joys in life to see dads change… To get back the body and health they’ve wanted for years… To have more energy for invest in their families… To feel more confident… To have control over their life.

I’m humbled and grateful every day to be in this business of helping others.

That’s my story. Now I’d love to help you create yours. Let’s work together 1-on-1 and make that happen. Click here to apply to work with us.
